In Love

As we lie there in the dark, I listen to his heart like the slow beating of the ocean in my ear. We lie there allowing our bodies to warm one another in that one moment when we are one; when we are whole because out of all the people in the world we have found each other. I lie there and trace his face; first the eyes and then the nose followed closely by your lips. His lips, which I always hunger for not out of lust but love because they say that I care about and want you with me all the time.
He lies there and trace my jaw line, neck, collar bone and then kiss with your loving lips that small nook right there connecting my collar with my neck. Right there is the life line that keeps me going, that crimson liquid that we all need. He kisses me there softly and then follows my neck all the way up to my chin, where he looks me in the eyes.
"I love you."
"I love you too," I reply, and as I lie there I know I do, but I always know I do just in this small moment it seem twice an important. "Very much, more than anything." There I said it. He is more important to me than anything, that food, water, writing, art, living. He is my everything.
"More than everything I love you too," he responds and kisses me lightly on my eyelids giving each one there own special signature. I snuggle closer to your heart and that slow beating ocean that I crave to hear because it reminds me that these moments are real. That these fragile minutes are never going to fade in my mind because of that steady beat that is a part of me.
